My name is Steve Billington and I started Trash Panda Decals at the end of 2024. In fact as I type this TPD is nothing more than a dream, a logo, a website in development, and a laundry list of wild ideas bouncing around in my mind.
I started this adventure by accident. I am an avid kayak angler and a YouTuber (Penguin Outdoors, Steve Billington Fishing) who loves to chase bass and adventure in the outdoors. I had two new kayaks and a need to outfit them with vinyl decals for both my own business as well as my sponsors. I decided I would take a shot at investing into doing it myself with the idea that I could then also do the same thing for my friends. I ended up diving into the world of not just vinyl but also sublimation and some other things still to be announced.
Over the course of the year I found myself addicted to the creative process and bringing designs from my brain to my table. I started seeing my work out there in the world and this filled me with a pride and sense of creative fulfillment I was not expecting. I thought to myself “man, this would be a cool business”. I then buried the idea because quite honestly there are a lot of options out there for people who want decals and I wasn’t sure there was room for one more guy at the table. As all great ideas and passions do it kept nagging at me and finally Trash Panda Decals was born.
The name comes from a bachelor party with some friends some years ago. When my buddy Chaco decided to get married he asked for a bachelor party fishing trip. So we all went out to a remote spot for a night of catfishing, beers, cigars, friends, and maybe a little moonshine. Sounds like the making of a great story, doesn’t it? I ended up catching a really nice flat head catfish and decided to bring that one home with me. I put it on a stringer and tossed it back in the water with a plan to retrieve it in the morning when I left.
Several hours later in the light of my headlamp I saw something I’d never believe if I wasn’t standing there to witness it. A raccoon had pulled in my stringer and was about halfway through eating my fish. A damn raccoon reeled in my fish you cannot make that up. After a few choice words it ran off to watch me from a tree and my love for trash pandas was forever cemented. I hope he is well fed and living his best life still.
Welcome to Trash Panda Decals, we appreciate your business!
